THE SHERATON SEATTLE RECEIVES FOUR DIAMOND RATING FROM AAA FOR THE 25TH YEAR IN A ROWNov 9, 2009SEATTLE – For the 25th year in a row, the Sheraton Seattle Hotel has received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award, designating it one of the travel authority’s highest ratings for hotels and restaurants. “When a guest walks into the Sheraton, we want them to feel like they are instantly relaxed, and at home,” said Matthieu Van Der Peet, general manager of the Sheraton Seattle. “. We’ve spent this last year creating a state-of-the art fitness facility and business center complete with Microsoft Surface tables, as well as installing one of the largest public Pacific Northwest art collections, to ensure that guests have everything they could need at their fingertips.” Representing the upper echelon of the hospitality industry, the AAA Four Diamond Award winners make up just 3.4% of the 58,000 AAA Diamond Rated lodgings and restaurants in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. The AAA Four Diamond Award is only given to hotels that are deemed excellent properties displaying the highest level of service and hospitality. These properties offer a wide variety of amenities and upscale facilities in the guest rooms, on the grounds and in the public areas. “Four Diamond lodgings and hotels represent the best the hospitality industry has to offer,” said Steve Pomranz, AAA Washington’s vice president of travel services. “These properties are extraordinary in every manner. Lodgings at this level offer guests a wide range of amenities and services, and restaurants feature a distinctive fine dining experience and distinct menus. We are pleased that so many establishments in our area have reached this level of service, and we are honored to present them with the AAA Four Diamond Award designation for 2009.” AAA annually evaluates approximately 60,000 lodging establishments and restaurants, and rates them on a scale of one to five diamonds. To be considered for approval and rating by AAA, hotels and restaurants must first apply for an evaluation to determine if they meet the 27 basic lodging requirements or 12 basic restaurant requirements. Upon approval, one of AAA’s 65 full-time, highly trained, professional evaluators makes an unannounced visit the establishment for evaluation. After a thorough inspection, an establishment that meets AAA’s requirements will become AAA Approved — indicating its proven ability to provide a quality experience for members.
